ABOUT
I am a Derbyshire-based mixed media sculptor and visual artist. I enjoy playing with texture and form, juxtaposing textile elements such as felted fibres, fabrics and embroidery with harder elements such as wood, glass and metal. I love creating art that tells a story, taking the viewer on a journey that shifts and changes direction depending on the beholder's own experiences and opinions.
I take inspiration from my love of nature, science and symbiosis, and attempt to merge it with a dash of fantasy and my own inner world. I particularly enjoy working on large scale pieces or installations that draw people in and create a connection, temporary or permanent, between them and the natural world.
When creating my pieces, I enjoy playing with scale and form; creating work that is larger than life or with emphasis on elements being made from different materials. I want the viewer to engage with the piece but take their own feelings and inspiration from it, rather than being told exactly what it means to me. Whilst my pieces vary in size, form and structure, the element of mystery and fantasy is present throughout.
